Fray Bernardino de Sahagún explores celestial bodies and natural phenomena in "La Historia General de las Cosas de la Nueva España", known as The Florentine Codex. His work, written primarily between 1545 and the late 1570s, delves into the Moon, its phases, and the legend of the Moon Rabbit imprinted on its face, as recounted in a native Pre-Hispanic origin story. In Chinese and Vietnamese traditions, the vessel holds the elixir of life, while in Japanese and Korean mythology, the Moon Rabbit is busy preparing glutinous rice to make rice cakes, the primary staple of sustenance.
